Oil on Board
©Kara Rosenlund
I just came across this beautiful oil on board of ‘Snapdragons’ which I have fallen hard for. Snapdragons remind me of my mother’s garden growing up, always full of colour. I used to love squeezing their ‘mouths’ to make them talk to each other.
I collect a lot of art like this; unframed, just as it was painted, bare on board or on canvas. Even if I do come across them framed I crack the frame off; the frames’ moulding is the one element which will always date. I love how you can place these pieces on mantles or shelves instead of having to hang them on the walls.
Ah, art, you are good for the soul.

Love it! I do the same thing! :)
Oh beautiful Kara! I do exactly the same-many a frame has been chucked! :-)
That is precisely why I love snapdragons too! Your natural flower puppet!
I have this gorgeous little islander boy painted on board by my great aunt. It used to be in my grandparents home and I’d just stare at it in wonder, still do sometimes. We’ve just moved and I’ve been thinking that I need to do a little vignette with him so thanks for the reminder. And I agree, art is sooo good for the soul. Lovely still life you have there! Mel x
